Facility Rental Informaiton

Allegheny Ridge Corporation (ARCorp) is poised to complete the interpretive component originally envisioned for the Altoona Heritage Discovery Center, which has had the pleasure of being the setting for a myriad of events. Over the past six years the facility has been requested as a venue for private functions.

The Altoona Heritage Discovery Center has not promoted itself as a banquet hall, but as an alternative event venue. The Center is a heritage interpretation site and exhibit space. Design plans are complete for two permanent exhibits -The Blair County Arts Hall of Fame on the mezzanine and a transportation-themed exhibit on the main level. Exhibit design was done in tandem to assure visual appeal and good function.

That being said the Center is still available and will continue to be available as an event venue. *While seating capacity was taken into consideration during design, the installed exhibit will impact this feature as well as the appearance of the space.

Phase one of exhibit fabrication will commence in 2006 as fabrication and installation dates have been tentatively scheduled. Fabrication is taking place off site. Installation is not expected to interfere with scheduled events and is expected to take no more than three days.

The spacious interior of The Exhibit Hall and The Mezzanine provide an elegant and dramatic setting that features a glass enclosed balcony, fifteen-foot high ceilings, Art Deco-style painted murals, and sinuous staircases that mirror one another to fashion a dais.

  • The Exhibit Hall and The Mezzanine combined can accommodate banquet seating for 400*

  • A 50% deposit is required to secure the date and time of your event

  • The Discovery Center has no obligation to any vendor; caterers must be licensed and insured and provide documentation to the facitlity

  • The Heritage Discovery Center is a smoke free facility

Conference Room

An Executive Conference Room is also available.This impressive room is matchless for private meetings, presentations and conference calls. The conference room accommodates 20 people.

 

 

"These Rare Lands," a Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition at the Altoona Heritage Discovery Center presented, 44 large-format color panoramic photographs by Stan Jorstad that capture the majesty of U.S. National Parks and monuments.
